WEATHER CONDITIONS
Weather conditions: |
| Temperatures were normally above 6C but occasionally reached 25C and sometimes at night fell to -4C. generally low precipitation so water levels in river fell rapidly. |
| Date of ice-break
on rivers: |
| Date of final loss
of snow: |
BIOTIC CONDITIONS
| Rodents abundance evaluation: |
low |
Breeding conditions:
| Hard to say since I have never been there before. But weather conditions were favourable, predator pressure was low despite 1994 being a peak year for lemmings. Apparently few foxes about in 1995, possibly killed off by desease or severe weather in winter. |
Rodent dynamics:
| Abundance did not change, as I was the only person to see a lemming the whole summer out of c. 20 scientists we met.
Rodent species recorded:
| Latin | Abundance |
| Lemmus sibiricus | rare |

Summary
of fauna studies: |
| We monitored Red-Breasted Geese breeding performance. Results will be available in a report which has almost been finished. Because they are preliminary to a long-term study, we will have to control their circulation but a copy will be sent to D.Stroud in due course. |
